COLLABORATION NO. 1 “01/45 (LIGHT AND PAINT)”
NAT BLOCH GREGERSEN & JUSTIN WORHAUG
It is with pleasure that LIST can present the introductory show in an ongoing collaboration between Copenhagen's Nat Bloch Gregersen (DK) and Vancouver-based Justin Worhaug (CA).
Between the media light and painting, Gregersen and Worhaug have collaborated on works that interact on both the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional level. Particular emphasis is placed on the union of two different artistic expressions and the dialogue it requires. The interaction between the two media forms the context - by building a bridge between the two separate materials, a reflection on aesthetic bodies is created.
The collaborative works are shown in trios (two paintings and a neon), which together provide an insight into which the individual element finds a void. The abstract but symbolic character of Worhaug's paintings highlights and reflects the dualistic approach in Gregersen's abstract light installations. In the configuration of Gregersen's installations, an interaction is created that introduces context and symbolism to the abstract nature of the light installations, while at the same time creating a new dimension of color and texture in the paintings.
